Trimax TQ2072 Trimaflex Integrated Keyed Cable Lock (72" length x 20mm) Review

This is not a 20mm cable lock.The steel cable is actually only about 8mm or 10mm in diameter, within a 20mm diameter plastic sleeve.(Optical distortion from the sleeve makes the steel look thicker than it is, but you can easily pry the sleeve back near one end and see that it's really a con.)I returned mine and got an OnGuard Akita 5036 lock, which is the real deal, much heavier.It cost $32 instead of $24 but for the extra $8 you get a real strong cable lock, not a joke.

Plug Guard - 7 Way Review

The product is well designed, but poorly executed.the plastic it is made from is much too brittle to withstand the intended use of the item.A 3/4 inch diameter cable puts a lot of pressure against the edges of an item like this. A more robust plastic would have made this a valuable addition to my trailer.As it is, I am going to have to go to a lot of extra effort to try to set it up so that I can get more than one or two uses out of it.

Curt Manufacturing 55562 T-Connector Review

Very disappointed to get this installed and have the converter go out within three weeks... on my second use. The plugs and sockets connected to my 08 Magnum fine, but the install was a bit of a pain to get it in there nicely. Then to have the thing go out!! I was quite unhappy to be running around trying to get this working the night before leaving so my weekend plans were not ruined. Was I going to take everything all apart and return it or cut out the converted and buy a cheap one to splice in from AutoZone? The later... so I basically paid $60++ for connectors. Thanks for nothing Curt Manufacturing!

I bought this after being mislead by a different site's description of a similar product.This is exactly what I needed to hook up trailer lights to my tundra.I didn't get the factory tow package, but the wiring from the front to the back is already there.You just need to snap in 2 connectors and that's it!Took me all of 30 minutes (I read and re-read the instructions to make sure).
The only thing I should mention is that for my 2003 tundra, the connector is on the driver's side, not the passenger's side (as described in the instructions).

I got these to wire together a few gauge accessories for my car.They worked great with my new wire stripper tool I got.Easy to crimp and worked great everytime.You get 100 for a cheap price.I would recommend getting the next step up as well if you have more than one wire going into the same butt connector which I did.I made it work but a bigger connector would have been nice.22-18 gauge is pretty small.The next step up would have worked fine for a range of like 20-14 gauge probably.

Curt Manufacturing 11004 Class I Receiver Review

I installed one of these on a 2006 Miata.It took about 4.5 hours to install, and I took my time and was very methodical.The instructions are good and anyone who is comfortable working on a car will have no problem with the install.

The one caveat, which appears to be very common, is that this hitch causes a loud vibration noise under braking and at idle while stopped.

The fix is very simple.Simply put a hose clamp over each rear muffler hanger and tighten enough to keep the clamp on.That stops the noise cold.

Saris Thelma 2 Bike Universal Hitch Rack - 4202 Review

I bought the Thelma 2 bike carrier last week (but not from Amazon) and took two bikes 650 miles and back over the weekend.

Pros: Very light and easy to use. Easy to assemble. Unlike carriers that strap the top tube, the wheels will not rotate into the vehicle or each other. Loading or unloading bikes is quick and easy.

Cons: The threaded hitch pin is good for keeping the carrier tight in the receiver with no motion, but a hassle to take off/put on, and does not lock. Saris sells a locking, threaded hitch pin separately. You could probably use a standard locking hitch pin, but that would allow the carrier to move a little in the receiver. Would be nice if the carrier had a hole or loop somewhere that a cable lock could attach to in order to secure the carrier to the receiver.

Now the dealbreaker. I assume that on a taller van or SUV, the vehicle would shield the bikes from the wind. But on a car, the bikes are exposed. I was very uncomfortable with the resulting motion of the bikes at highway speeds. I checked the straps and carrier several times and everything seemed to be fine, and I kept telling myself that this is what the carrier is designed for and it's probably normal. But after we got home, took the bikes off, and folded the front wheel holders down to stow them, I noticed that they had been bent backwards some, perhaps an inch at the ends, and no longer lined up with the rear wheel holders. I am taking this back to the bike shop where I got it and upgrading to the Saris Cycle On.

This carrier is probably great for around town use, or behind a van or SUV, but I would not recommend it for long trips on a car.

Curt Manufacturing 13251 Class III Receiver Review

I gave this product an easy 5 stars.The finish on the receiver looks like the picture, very glossy and smooth.The installation of this item took about 40 minutes from start to finish.All of the necessary hardware was included and the directions were very clear on what was required to prep the Jeep for install.I installed this item on my 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado 4x4.I found getting this item was easier than trying to buy a factory hitch and have to cut the bumper and get the trim rings.Also, it appears that this has more tongue weight than factory so that's something to consider when thinking about the items you might be hauling.

The other 'pro' of this item for me is the fact that it doesn't look bolted on, and it doesn't look cheap.I'm sure many people out there will think that it is 100% factory which is what I love the most.

Not quite marine grade.Obvious rust in a few weeks and now, 6 mo. later, they can hardly be operated.

This is a Chinese knock-off of a Reese or Curt hitch. Don't expect
domestic quality! This Chinese hitch is available elsewhere at
a significantly lower price. IFit's purchased at half the price of a Reese

Be forewarned, like a lot of Chinese tools and other mechanical devices,

Curt Manufacturing 14055 Class IV Receiver Review

I did a lot of research before selecting this hitch, checked out a lot of reviews on the web and on some of the RV forums. Glad I did, this hitch is the bees knees! I have owned, installed and had installed, several receiver style hitches on various vehicles, and this is the quickest and easiest to install, that I have encountered. The hardware consists of 6 carriage bolts, 6 flanged nuts and 8 washers, thats it! It took me less than 5 minutes to install it without help. Main reason, is that what you see in the photo is what the hitch consists of, there are no additional brackets or hangers to install. One thing you can't tell from the photo, is that the end plates are 3/8th inch steel! Plenty strong enough! The thick, glossy powder coating should hold corrosion at bay for many years! I'm really happy with this hitch and can recommend it to anyone looking for a heavy duty towing hitch.

Curiously, when I type my vehicle info into the AMAZON "parts finder" application, this hitch doesn't come up.Instead, I went to the CURT manufacturing web site and determined which hitches fit my truck, then returned to AMAZON and searched on the part numbers.

Curt makes two that fit my 2010 FORD F-150.One has a square main tube and this hitch has a round main tube.I'm not sure why they give you the choice but I chose the round one.

It arrived quickly and in good condition.It bolted right up with no problem.I was a little worried that I would have to remove the FORD factory trailer wiring connector on the underside of the factory step-bumper but the CURT hitch cleared it with room to spare.It cleared the spare tire just fine too.

I'm happy with this product.AMAZON doesn't list a weight rating for this model#13371hitch other than to say it's a class III.The installation instructions are more specific.They say:

"Gross load capacity when used as a weight carrying hitch: 6000 lbs trailer weight & 600 lbs tongue weight."
"Gross load capacity when used as a weight distribution hitch: 11,000 lbs trailer weight & 1000 lbs tongue weight."
"Do not exceed vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity."Hope this helps.

I purchased an 11028 hitch for my 2007 Mazda Miata MX5 RHT.The mounting tabs on the center section did not align with the existing holes in the bumper as described in the instructions.Everything else mounted properly.I was disappointed with this and the fact that the receiver didn't come with a rubber cover plate.Otherwise this is a very nice hitch.

Curt Manufacturing 13422 Class III Receiver Review

Just recieved my hitch and already instaled it. Fit like a glove. This is my 3rd Curt Hitch and just like the ones previous, flawless. Curt Hitches for me always fit great and they look great too. I have 1 other that is at least 4 years old and it still looks like new. They have great welds and a great strong finish that takes abuse. Plus, I like that it is made in America. I have tried other hitchs and found that some don't fit very well and require a lot of persuasion. The directions say that it takes 30 min. to install. Took me 3 min. with just one socket wrench and no persuasion. All hardware was included. Thank you Curt Hitch's for a great product, and thank you Amazon for the best price and free shipping.

I bought a number of these to install in my enclosed 6 X 12 trailer for tying-back furniture and boxes during a recent move.The price was excellent compared to a lot of other products available, and the rings are sturdy and suited to my needs.Of course, I had to buy hardware to install them, but why pay extra for included hardware that is probably not going to work in your particular application?These aren't the most heavy duty product, but I think they probably do a good job of meeting their advertised specs, and have worked very well for me so far.I would not have considered using these in a location exposed to weather.

I purchased this hitch for my 2004 Chevy Aveo hatchback.I did not install it myself, but took the hitch to a local exhaust/trailer hitch shop and they installed for about $50. This hitch DOES require the bumper facia to be removed and holes drilled.The shop had no trouble doing this and the car was back within an hour.I was very impressed with the strength of this product over the others I compared it to. Others were cheaper, but this one has extra welds & plates on it (for strength), nicer paint, and came with the ball receiver and pin, which alone can make up for the dif. in price.I've used it for a couple months now with my bike rack and very small trailer I use for moving plants, repair equipment, etc. and I love it.ONE NOTE:the item is not chrome, but gloss black.

Curt Manufacturing 11179 Class I Receiver Review

I had a hard time deciding how many stars to give this.It's not at all perfect, but there aren't many alternatives.Curt should be rewarded for helping us 5 series folks out, but the price is rather high when the negatives are considered.

The black finish is wonderful although I don't think that's very important.What is important is the strength.To that, I can only take their word provided you stay within the tongue weight and trailer weight.Perhaps I'll update this summer.

I need to point out that this hitch mounts to the sheet metal around the spare tire well; not the frame.I think this relates to the Class I rating.

There are two negatives:
1) The thinner bar that has four holes is straight.But the BMW is slightly curved here.What to do?Well, either the car's sheet metal will bend or the hitch bar will (or maybe both?).I decided the hitch was more replaceable than the car, so I bent the bar myself, before bolting in place.Of course, this chipped the finish.In my opinion, this should have been addressed.
2) The unit comes with a receiver.But the black finish was applied so heavily that it built-up at the and that prevented fitment in the hole.Yes, it can be addressed, but for the price I expected it right.

My brief experience with the hitch pulling the boat out of the shed was positive.I got on the brake hard a few times to see what happened.Answer?Not much.

My last comment: I used construction glue between the hitch and the body to prevent water from rusting out the car.Like I said, the hitch mounts to the sheet-metal and you can't afford that to rot away.Yes, it may increase the strength although I would not even think to suggest you tow more than they recommend!

Curt Manufacturing 11768 Class I Receiver Review

I put this hitch on 2003 Honda CRV in 45 minutes, it was a piece of cake didn't even need a jack. Everything lined up perfectly. My only complaint is that the muffler clunks against the hitch when I am turning or on rough roads. I willl need to grind some metal off the hitch, not a lot but enough to be annoyingly tedious.

Curt Manufacturing 13051 Class III Receiver Review

First off, the build quality seems top notch.The welds are clean and it appears to be very rugged.My review below is for the fitment, and I gave it a low rating because it does not fit right over skid plates and the instructions specifically state it will.

I bought this for my Grand Cherokee thinking it was going to be an easy install.I have skid plates, and according to Curt, this is no problem since you simply do not use the provided spacers for the furthest rearward hole.I spent 3 hours trying to get this thing to seat correctly on both sides.I finally gave in and went to my friendly mechanic which required myself and 2 mechanics to get it to fit right.It sits too snug over the skid plate and it is impossible not to scratch both it and the hitch considerably during installation.Bottom Line is Curt should make a model for skid plates and without.

Additionally, the bolts included were the wrong pitch AND one arrived broken so it cost me another $9 in hardware.

I wrote to Curt also, and I was told they would have engineering look into it.
