I've never had a problem with banging myself up on the hitch ball; but, if you do, this cover is a very simple way to solve it.The product is nothing but a piece of foam that you press down over the hitch; very simple, yet effective.
The cover fits fairly tightly over a 2" ball, but there is still quite a bit of play once it is installed.Maybe it's just my hitch, but the cover never seems like it's straight after I've been driving on the highway since it can tilt in pretty much any direction. At some point, after it's had a bit more wear, I wouldn't be surprised to find that it has come off completely...
Since it's made of foam, I also won't be surprised if it starts to break down in the Texas heat; but, that would probably take long enough that it wouldn't be a huge deal if it is keeping you from banging up your shins on the hitch in the mean time:).
Overall, this product is so simple that it's hard to find fault with. The only direct improvement I can think of would be adding some kind of strap to the bottom to help stabilize it on the highway.
