Curt Manufacturing 11555 Class I Receiver Review

I did a lot of research online before I decided to buy this hitch receiver for my 2007 Honda CRV.I also wanted to know the installation details because I wanted to make sure that drilling was not actually required as the manufacturer claims in the specifications.Fortunately, I found a very good video in youtube.I would paste the URL but amazon does not allow that in the reviews so if you are interested, you will have to search for it.Just go to youtube and type "trailer hitch installation 2008 honda crv" in the search box.The first video that will come up is the one that I am talking about (It is actually a video from etrailer dot com).

This video is for a hitch receiver from a different manufacturer but I can tell you it is 100% equal to the hitch receiver from Curt (as far as the installation goes).If you pay close attention to the video, you will see (0:24 seconds) that they are clearly mentioning that the hole is a little bit small and therefore will have to be enlarged.After that, they actually show (1:28 seconds) that they have to use a chisel in order to so.Technically speaking, drilling was not required but enlarging the hole with a chisel is also something that looks a bit "brute force" to me and that is what I was actually trying to get away from since that would mess up the coating that the vehicle comes with and leave that area exposed to potential rusting in the future.

I ended up decreasing the size of the block (with a dremel moto tool) so that I could get the block into place without having to enlarge the holes.This has the advantage that I did not have to touch the vehicle at all and the installation was clean and robust.Overall, I am very happy with this hitch receiver, but I cannot give it 5 stars because a well-done professional installation was not as straightforward as the manufacturer and other reviews had claimed it would be.
